A Spirit-Filled Summertime Fete on the Frio River for Ava and Connelly

Destination weddings don’t always require a passport. Sometimes, the most extraordinary destination is a beloved family property tucked into the Texas Hill Country, reached by winding roads and surrounded by the people and places that hold the greatest meaning of all. It was here, along the banks of the Frio River, that Ava and Connelly gathered those they love most for a summertime celebration where faith, family, and gratitude were woven together to create a wedding weekend that felt almost sacred.

Inviting their guests to experience a place as beloved as Leakey, Texas, made the celebration feel deeply personal, intimate, and unmistakably their own.

The Frio River and towering trees created a breathtaking natural backdrop for the ceremony. Set peacefully along the water’s edge, the setting felt both intimate and deeply spirit-filled—a beautiful beginning to an unforgettable celebration.

The reception design embraced its surroundings rather than competing with them. Fresh greens, romantic florals, layered details, and an inviting, air-conditioned tented reception created an atmosphere that felt elevated without losing the warmth of nature. And, what began as an open piece of land was transformed into a complete reception setting filled with delicious food, signature libations, tableside wine service featuring hand-selected wines imported from France, beautiful summer blooms, live music, candlelight, the goodness of family, and the dearest of friends. The result was sophisticated but grounded—a true Texas Hill Country wedding with a sense of place and purpose. 

As evening settled in, dinner effortlessly gave way to dancing, and it quickly became clear that this was a crowd ready to celebrate. Groove Knight kept the dance floor packed well into the night, carrying the party all the way to midnight—and by the final song, the dance floor had quite literally been danced apart.

While private-property weddings can appear wonderfully effortless, producing them is anything but simple. Every element required had to be brought to the site, and since it was a summertime wedding, we did not have the luxury of utilizing an aesthetically pleasing open air sail tent or clear tent. Instead a solid white tent with sidewalls to support proper HVAC was the only way to keep guests comfortable and the party going. 

Our planning and production process included multiple site visits and extensive planning surrounding tenting, power, catering, entertainment, rentals, guest comfort, transportation, and logistics. Separate generators were brought in to support the tent, catering operation, and band. Every table, chair, linen, place setting, floral arrangement, bar element, lighting component, and piece of equipment had to arrive on site and work together within a carefully orchestrated production schedule. When thoughtful planning and production are working as intended, guests simply arrive to something that feels beautiful, comfortable, and effortless. That’s our goal. 

Ava and Connelly’s wedding reminds us why we love producing celebrations in unexpected places. They require tremendous preparation behind the scenes, but they also give us the opportunity to create something that could never simply be replicated inside a ballroom.

More than anything, we loved working with this family. Their kindness and graciousness were felt throughout the entire planning process, making it especially meaningful for our team to bring this celebration to life.

This wasn’t just a wedding on the Frio. It belonged there. And we were incredibly grateful to have been entrusted with it.
