Michael and Viktoria’s Traditional South Asian Wedding at La Cantera

Michael and Viktoria’s love story began at TCU, where they both studied sciences in a pre-med program.  It didn’t take long for them to realize that their shared passion for medicine was just the beginning. Their friendship soon blossomed into romance, and when the time came to attend separate medical schools, the distance only deepened their love. Through years of long-distance courtship and engagement, their unwavering commitment to each other was a true testament to their loyalty and devotion.

When it became time to plan their wedding, they envisioned an elegant and picturesque venue with luxury accommodations and the ability to cater nearly 400 guests. A destination wedding in San Antonio at the breathtaking La Cantera Resort & Spa was the ultimate choice.

Prashe Decor was brought in from their Dallas office. Under the expert leadership of Bilen Walga, designers created  a breathtaking mandap of cascading fresh florals. Some team members flew in from New York specifically for the installation, departing straight to the Met Gala immediately after setup.

Family heirlooms played a meaningful role in the ceremony, with some treasures passed down for generations. These revered artifacts carried a deep sentimental significance, enriching every moment with history and cherished memories.

The morning kicked off with a lively baraat on the resort’s green. Michael, his father, and his groomsmen needed no encouragement to dive into the festivities with excitement. Guests cheered and danced along a joyful procession as Michael arrived on a majestic white horse to greet his bride.

Viktoria watched the baraat from a distance, with anticipation building for the ceremony ahead. The couple had embraced the tradition of a vibrant baraat and an authentic Hindu wedding, where the bride is revealed to the groom for the first time. In true tradition, this moment marks the groom’s very first glimpse of his bride.

As Viktoria entered, Michael’s vision was temporarily obscured by tradition. Viktoria’s younger brother stepped in for the quintessential look of amazement for his sister’s beauty. The ceremony, filled with traditional vows and symbolic rituals, was one of the most breathtaking experiences we’ve ever witnessed.

After the ceremony, both families came together for a delectable Indian luncheon before taking some time to recharge for the evening’s grand wedding reception. Prashe Decor worked their magic in creating an exquisite ballroom filled with lush florals and candlelight. Asukar delivered a dream-worthy cake, and it was a sight to behold after Bilen adorned it with a cascade of lush pink and coral garden roses.

The newlyweds warmly welcomed their guests with enthusiasm, and curated an evening of entertainment, each taking the stage with their respective bridal party members for special dance performances. The night was filled with heartfelt speeches, joyful dancing, and an abundance of love and devotion shared amongst all.

And what’s a party without CO2 cannons blasting energy into the crowd? This was truly the celebration of a lifetime! Desi Junction DJs kept the dance floor packed until midnight, making every moment unforgettable.

Viktoria and Michael, thank you for honoring us with the pleasure in planning your magnificent wedding weekend. Your love, your joy, and this captivating celebration will stay in our hearts forever.
